Intermusica approached me about realising Colin Currie’s ambition to record Steve Reich’s Drumming with the Colin Currie Group. Labels were interested, but none would take the risk on funding the recording.

I put together a realistic budget to get the album made, created a crowdfunding campaign and worked with a large number of partners to spread the word and raise more than £15,000 to make the album.

The recording took place on May 8th 2017, for release in March 2018.

We did a deal with LSO Live to distribute the album under the Colin Currie Records label, with many more releases in the pipeline.

Steve Reich said “It will be, I am sure, the best recording of Drumming ever made.”
